Something Good (Autumn 2010)

The best things that I remember
a friend of a friend got too high again
she asked me to dance
and though I know that I can't
I did not send her away.
We shook off the shakes and moved into the night
or until she bugged out at the shadows outside
so I sat her down and told her about
all the good things that come with the day

and if I could remember myself I would
forget myself and do something good,
If I could remember these things I would
forget myself and do something good...

The best things that I remember
a circle of friends I may not see again
and we sat in the kitchen in aging October
the house was already old.
One of us spoke about searching for happiness
the last of our light bulbs broke leaving him speechless
and just for then, if never again, we were glad to be out of the cold.

If I could remember these things I would
forget myself and do something good,
If I could remember these things I would
forget myself and do something good...

The best things that I remember
we sat on the station awaiting the train
and many oblivious morning coat men were
wrapped in their papers and blowing away
we all of us kissed on the cheeks and the lips
and we hung our ennui on industrial cranes
that spiked the horizon
and you cried from the platform
that I disappeared just a quick as I came

and if I could remember these things I would
forget myself and do something good,
If I could remember these things I would
forget myself and do something good...
